Some advice for New parents…
Hi parents,
We are so excited by our growth and the changes going on here at Dance 1. We hope that you will find them as exciting and fulfilling as we do.
One of the things we have been working on is refining and developing our dance program for our youngest dancers. Our goal is that when your child starts dancing with us, at Dance 1, that they will find that our classes are challenging and fun, and that they build upon each other each year. Our hope is that a 5 or 6 year old taking our Combo 5 class will come out of that class with a well rounded knowledge of the basics of tap, ballet and jazz dance. Thus, as they move forward in their dance education, your family is able to make wise, informed decisions on which style, or styles, would be best for a more focused study.
Our Ballet 1 and Jazz 1 are designed to be entered into by a 7 or 8 year old who already has a basic knowledge of that style, as well as the maturity, for the focused attention in class which is required to properly teach dance in a safe and progressive manner.
You will also see on our new schedule, Pre-Ballet and Pre-Jazz classes. They will bridge the gap between the Combo 5 class and the focused Level 1 ballet or Jazz classes. Pre-Ballet and Pre-Jazz are specifically designed to instill proper classroom etiquette, to develop the basic proper technique for your child to dance safely, to teach the foundational elements of each style of dance, and to build the confidence of the dancer before they enter the Level 1 class in their style.
We encourage you to choose the class that is most appropriate for your child to succeed in, and will build their confidence and skills. We wish to keep the love of dance in the forefront of each class, through variety, challenge, and engaging activities, while also developing technique and life skills in any of the styles of dance they choose.
Thank you so much for choosing to be part of our Dance 1 family. We truly appreciate each of you and your children, who allow us to pursue our own passions of spreading the love of dance.
