Nia Brantly is originally from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Teaching quickly became her passion at 14 years old when her teacher gave her a hip hop class. From that moment on she continued to train as a teacher and eventually became an instructor with the National Dance Alliance where she taught thousands of dancers across the country. Upon graduating with a BA in Theatre and Dance from Spelman College she was humbled by immediately booking a number of jobs like: AIDA with the Atlanta Opera, I Dream directed by Jasmine Guy, international tour Drumline Live, and national tour UniverSOUL Circus. She stayed busy in between these jobs by doing gigs for the Georgia Lottery, Coca-Cola, Kia, & Nike. As well as appearances on the first BET Hip Hop Awards, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Bessie on HBO. She is also a featured dancer in the newly released feature film, Bolden.
While in New York City Nia went back to her first passion of teaching by holding long standing positions at Brooklyn Ballet, Riverdale Children’s Theatre (voted one of the Top 10 Musical Theatre Companies in the country), and Rosie’s Theatre Kids in Times Square. She was also a mentor for Fordham University’s Ailey School senior class. She also worked on the productions of Once on This Island on Broadway and the 20th Anniversary of The Lion King on Broadway. All of this has led Nia to her most recent humbling experience of being hired as the resident choreographer for the #1 hit drama, THIS IS US on NBC.
