Mia was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden and received her professional dance training at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. At 17 Mia joined her first company, Europa Danse, a french youth company who toured all around France with works by Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Jiri Kylian and Mauro Bigonzetti. Mia then joined Vienna State Ballet in Austria for a season before being offered a contract with the Royal Swedish Ballet. Mia stayed with the Royal Swedish Ballet for 10 years, and was promoted to soloist, before hanging up her pointe shoes.
During her career, Mia performed in all the classical repertoire, dancing soloist roles in classics such as Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Manon and Cinderella, among others. She was a versatile dancer who loved the contemporary repertoire. She is proud to have worked with some of the greatest choreographers of today such as Mats Ek, Sharon Eyal, William Forsythe and Johan Inger. Some of her highlights included performing the lead role in the iconic ballet The Rite of Spring my Maurice Bejart and the lead role in William Forsythe’s Artifact Suite.
The reason Mia left the ballet was that she had fallen in love with acting. Following her career in dance, Mia was offered the role of “Penny Johnson” in the Musical Theatre Production of Dirty Dancing and 150 shows later she knew what her next career path would be. She wanted some real acting training and spent a summer in New York and Stella Adler Acting Studio before applying and getting accepted to Stockholm University of Dramatic Arts.
In 2016 Mia graduated, signed with an agent and started to get cast in film, TV and commercials in Sweden, Norway, Holland and France. In 2018 she moved out to Los Angeles with her American husband. Mia’s love love for storytelling is something she brings into her teaching. Mia believes that the artistry is a very important part of the technique.
Mia is very excited to join the Dance 1 team and being a part of helping the students to reach their full potential while experiencing the joy of dance.
